What we do

FRI facilitates non-formal educational programs that allow participants to experience life in another culture. By living with a local host family, participating in observational visits to nearby communities, and volunteering with different kinds of organizations, our participants learn about Ecuadorian culture, community development, adaptability, time management, independence and, hopefully, so much more. While our programs focus mostly on youth, we encourage people of all ages to take part.

To meet the expectations of our diverse national and international youth clients through the work of a highly professional team committed to fostering the positive growth of people that will also contribute to the sustainable development of our societies.

We are convinced that our programs facilitate sociocultural processes in which the participants learn:

  • to develop a critical conscience, as well as an understanding and respect for other cultures
  • that respect unites us all and makes us responsible for the realities of and solutions to the currently existing problems in the world

As such, FRI facilitates international volunteer programs and internships that have the goal of building peace world wide.

Our Staff

Our staff has over 17 years of experience with non-formal educational programs. In addition to organizing programs, we have been participants in, and supervisors of, similar programs throughout the world. All of our staff members are bilingual in Spanish and English, and one member of our staff speaks fluent French. The "formal" educational qualifications held by our staff include: a Diploma in International Relations, a Degree in Sociology and a degree in Social communications. We feel that it is important to continue the process of learning, thus, in an effort to develop a better understanding of cross-cultural management, we have participated in training in a numer of different countries.
